Women You Should Know About

Sojourner Truth. Mary McLeod Bethune. Clara Barton. Women we read about with a sdeep sense of awe and respect for their courage to stand against the tide and challenge the assumptions and mores of their day. But we wonder. were they as acclaimed in their time as they are now? Could they, or the prople around them look ahead and forsee how history would paint them? Would that have made a difference to them, or would they simply go about doing the work they felt called to do without any thought of getting an entry into the history books?

There's a lot to be said for unsung heroes. Those people who, without flourish or fanfare, quietly change the world, one person at a time, one project at a time.

On this page, we will honor a woman who is following in the footsteps of the great women who preceded her. More often than not, this woman will not see her own greatness, but will see the work she does as simply, necessary. For those of us looking into the future, we can see a woman who will make history.

Do you know a woman we should know about?

Send us an e-mail about a woman you know in your community who deserves to be known.

We will contact you for details.

Thank you.
