I enjoyed reading your first edition and believe that this is a worthwhile indication of
greater possibilities. I look forward to seeing other editions . . . Thanks for your effort on
behalf of the over-40 woman.
This e-zine is wonderful. I loved the story on aging. It's so on point. I also read What About
Her? I have not seen anything like this geared toward over-forty black women online and I
am so happy you thought of it. Much success to you. And yes I would like to become a
subscriber.
In the short story "The Metausine" the question, “What if there were a machine that could
magically wipe away the ravages of time, and return you to the best year of your life?
Would you take advantage of it?”
I didn’t need to think about it because I am always in the best time of my life. As I
considered why that is, knowing that some women (and men) don’t feel that way, it
dawned on me that mentally/emotionally, people don’t look at aging as a great thing –
using the different decades to gain wisdom and tolerance (and in turn tolerance for such
things as aging), have an appetite for learning new things about people, cultures and the
world, grow as a spiritual beings, celebrate the blessing of reaching another year and
preparing to enjoy the fruits of those years. Personally, that comes with having an
understanding of your purpose here on earth and having a focus on something bigger than
yourself. When people struggle with issues like this, it is because they measure these
things by worldly standards. . . and therefore feel they don’t measure up. We all have
done that at one time or another. But when that happens consistently, behaviors are
exhibited that keep people striving for a time in their youth when they felt it was the best
time of their life (and these behaviors are usually not healthy).
